Before replacement of shock-absorbers it is necessary to establish, what is established a running gear. After it it is possible to order the necessary shock-absorbers. It can be found out on a sticker with information on the car at the bottom of a luggage carrier or in dredging for a spare wheel.

The shock-absorber separates from the dismantled amortization rack by means of the spring tension device. Such tension devices are on sale in shop of the accompanying goods. It is important to know that the fixing eye of the shock-absorber should be under a certain corner to the top fastening of an amortization rack. The workshop of Audi applies the spring tension device to its correct installation with an angular scale. Without this device it is necessary to use intuition and a goniometer.

Dismantle of back shock-absorbers

Cars with a forward drive

Along with new shock-absorbers use also new самоконтрящуюся a nut for the top fastening of the shock-absorber:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dismantle an amortization rack and clamp it in a vice for the bottom fixing eye. Do not clamp it in the field of external diameter, differently it will be pressed through.
  2. Establish the tension device on rounds of a spring and slightly compress a spring.
  3. In order that the tension device did not slide off, paste over the corresponding rounds of a spring with a sticky tape.
  4. Wring out a protective cap, weaken above on a connecting bar of the stabilizer самоконтрящуюся a nut, thus wring out a bar in an opposite direction a natural an internal shestigrannik.
  5. After unscrewing of a nut remove details of the top support of an amortization rack and combine them in sequence of dismantle.
  6. Remove from the shock-absorber a spring and auxiliary details.
  7. At assembly pay attention that: the basis of a spring and a lining are greased with talc and at assembly are corrected in the direction of an eye of the shock-absorber.
  8. Establish still compressed spring.
  9. The color label on a spring is turned down to a plate of a spring.
  10. At the correct installation the bottom end of a spring adjoins to a lining emphasis.
  11. Assembly of details in that order, as is shown in drawing above.
  12. Above the spring end also adjoins to the top dredging for a spring eye.
  13. Correct the shock-absorber and a plate of a spring above how it is shown in drawing above.
  14. Tighten a fixing nut above on 25 Nanometers.
  15. If it is necessary, move for the spring end a spring lining below and a lining on an emphasis.
  16. Slowly weaken a spring.
  17. Put on from above a cap, thus its arrangement correct according to drawing.

Dismantle of back shock-absorbers

Quattro cars

Along with new shock-absorbers use also new самоконтрящуюся a nut and a new bolt for the top fastening of the shock-absorber:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dismantle an amortization rack and clamp it in a vice for the bottom fixing eye. Do not clamp it in the field of external diameter, differently it will be pressed through.
  2. Establish the tension device on rounds of a spring and slightly compress a spring.
  3. In order that the tension device did not slide off, paste over the corresponding rounds of a spring with a sticky tape.
  4. Weaken самоконтрящуюся a nut of the top fastening of the shock-absorber, take out a bolt.
  5. Remove the shock-absorber, a spring and a dempfiruyushchy ring.
  6. Establish still the compressed spring.
  7. The color label on a spring is turned below to a plate of a spring.
  8. The bottom end of a spring adjoins to dredging of an eye of a spring below on the shock-absorber.
  9. Above the spring end too adjoins to dredging of an amortization ring.
  10. Again collect an amortization rack (a spring still under a tension).
  11. In the beginning freely manually screw the top fastening of the shock-absorber on the top part of an amortization rack (the so-called adapter).
  12. The shock-absorber and the top part of an amortization rack correct so that imagined axes of both fixing openings of shock-absorbers were on the relation to each other at an angle 21 ° (the admission only 2 °). Thus the bottom opening is in front turned to outer side of the car (see drawing on the right above).
  13. In this situation unload a spring.
  14. Now tighten a nut of a fixing bolt of the shock-absorber on 70 Nanometers. Then tighten it on 1/2 turns.

Replacement of the bearing of a back wheel

Cars with a forward drive

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. On each party one is used new шплинт, one internal and one external bearing, and also a sealing ring.
  2. Lift and fix the car.
  3. Dismantle brake disks (head of the Brake), for this purpose dismantle a support.
  4. Remove a cap for greasing of the wheel bearing.
  5. Straighten safety шплинт and take out it.
  6. Remove a stopper of a koronchaty nut and unscrew a six-sided nut.
  7. Remove a press washer and the external wheel bearing.
  8. Wring out behind in the middle of a wheel nave a sealing ring, take out the bearing and wipe in a nave old greasing.
  9. Rotating rings of both bearings take out from the middle of a nave of a wheel. For this purpose put from the different parties from within a brass core to a rotating ring and in soft blows of a hammer beat out it outside. Track that the ring was not bent.
  10. Establish on a wheel nave a new ring of the bearing. For protection put from above an old ring of the bearing (the thick party down) in order that at careful driving in there was no damage on a working surface of the new bearing.
  11. Hammer all rings of bearings against the stop.
  12. Now again take out all old rings of bearings put for protection.
  13. Fill with greasing intermediate space between both rings of the bearing, and also a ring and bearings.
  14. Insert the internal bearing.
  15. Evenly hammer with a rubber hammer a sealing ring on inside.
  16. Pull a wheel nave for the axis end.
  17. Put on the external wheel bearing and a press washer.
  18. Manually screw a six-sided nut for the axis end; thus constantly turn a wheel in order that the bearing was not bent.
  19. Adjust the wheel bearing (see the following section).
  20. Establish a brake disk and a support (head of the Brake). Then several times press a brake pedal.

Cars with a drive on forward wheels

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift a back part of the car and fix it.
  2. The wheel in cars with steel rims can be not dismantled. If from light metals, a wheel it is necessary to remove rims to improve access.
  3. Remove a nave cap, шплинт and a koronchaty stopper how it is described above.
  4. Screw up a six-sided nut without effort, rotating thus a wheel not to clamp the bearing.
  5. Again weaken a nut a little.
  6. The gap is established correctly if the press washer behind a nut can be a little shifted by a screw-driver with strong pressing of a finger. Do not damage a screw-driver edge of a nave of a wheel.
  7. If now lock шплинт it is impossible to advance through a koronchaty stopper, turn a nut in the screwing up direction a little.
  8. Pull a nave cap by means of a rubber hammer if it is necessary, put between them the curtailed rag.

Wheel bearing of the quattro models

The all-wheel drive model has pressed double ball-bearings also on a back axis. They do not need to be regulated, but in the absence of necessary pressovy stamps they cannot be replaced by own efforts.
