The self-help in work with the generator and a tension regulator

Maintenance of the generator of an alternating current is not provided if to exclude extremely seldom arising need for replacement of graphite brushes. It is impossible to eliminate more serious damages by means of amateur means.

To uncover (2) generators of Bosch firm, weaken three screws with crosswise heads (1), remove a wire In + from a cut finger (3) and take out from grooves fixing ledges (shooters).


The regulator of tension (2) keeps on two screws with crosswise heads (1). Figure «3» designated an axis of sliding contact in the generator.


On the dismantled regulator of tension (4) we designated length of contact brushes (2) shooters. Figure «1» showed contacts of a regulator of tension, «3» – fixing screws.

Check of tension of a charging

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Connect between a plusovy pole of the generator and weight the voltmeter.
  2. Start the engine on average turns.
  3. At a serviceable regulator of tension the device will show approximately from 13,3 to 14,6 Century.
  4. If it not so, check graphite brushes or replace a regulator.
  5. The generator is otherwise faulty.

Check of graphite brushes

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a minus pole of the accumulator.
  2. Depending on model of the car provide access to the back party of the generator (for example, dismantle a broad tank or facing of an impellent compartment) or dismantle the generator.
  3. Dismantle a cover behind on the generator.
  4. Remove a regulator from the generator. For this purpose weaken both fixing screws.
  5. Cast away a regulator a little in order that graphite brushes did not hang.
  6. Measure a ledge of graphite brushes: new graphite brushes have length about 13 mm; size of wear of 5 mm.

Replacement of graphite brushes

Replacement of graphite brushes in modern generators is not provided any more – graphite brushes any more are not delivered as spare parts. If they were erased, it is necessary to change completely a regulator.

But if someone can get graphite brushes in a workshop on repair of the electrotechnical equipment of cars as spare parts, can make separate replacement: in this case the soldering iron, solder and, besides, ability to solder are necessary. The description provided below, belongs to the Bosch firm generator:

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dismantle a regulator from the generator how it is described above.
  2. Otpayayte connecting plaits, take out graphite brushes.
  3. Remove from old brushes press springs and put on new brushes.
  4. Solder connecting plaits.
  5. Use thus a little tin solder and work quickly that connecting plaits did not become impregnated with tin. Otherwise they will lose flexibility.

 Council: At the dismantled regulator you can check also copper contact rings of the core of the generator (on them graphite brushes move). If on them already there are scars extra earnings, it is possible to chisel and polish them in a workshop on repair of the electrotechnical equipment of cars.

Generator dismantle

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the wire of the accumulator connected to weight, differently there is a danger of short circuit.
  2. Four-cylinder engine: where is, unscrew a weight wire.
  3. Remove a klinorebristy belt (it is described in head further).
  4. Dismantle the connected wire.
  5. Unscrew fixing bolts of a collar of the generator and take out them, hold thus the generator.
  6. Six-cylinder engine: remove a klinorebristy belt (it is described in head further).
  7. Dismantle the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
  8. Dismantle from below the connected wire and directing a stream of fresh air.
  9. Weaken fixing bolts, remove the generator.
